Snowmen come to light - A CRAFTER'S TOOL PART 9

Posted on December 07, 2015 by Kate Moynihan | 0 comments

Something old, something new, nothing borrowed, yet a bit of blue, and red, and green! That’s what artist, Teresa DeGraff, did by creating her clever snowmen.

Her crafter’s tools are common ones: scissors and a glue gun. In fact her choice of tools reminded me of my own toolbox, or, I should qualify, my not-so-much toolbox.

Teresa likes to scout for the usual and turn it into something special. She calls herself a scrounger, enjoying the hunt and the mystery of never knowing what she might find.

Upon stumbling on a handful of cup cozies, inspiration struck Teresa. A snip here and a dab of glue there; and the old silk hats were born. The jolly, happy snowman came to life when Teresa layered papers to 'frost' her scrounged recycled glass jars.

Personally, I like to use the snowman as a treat jar. You may enjoy making them glow with a battery light. After all, there is a bit of magic in Teresa’s jars with that old silk hat.

Have you scrounged for any treasures lately? What's your favorite find?
